Rick Harris was born February 19, 1951 in Waukesha, Wisconsin. At the age of eleven he began playing music professionally. Leaving school at fifteen he went on the road with various rock and blues bands playing across the Midwest. He has also worked at a variety of jobs throughout his life including; factories, machine shops, horse ranch, foundries and track maintenance for the old SooLine Railroad.

He has traveled extensively in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

Although playing music and songwriting are still his primary focus (currently has release three CDs), his painting has become an important means of expression. Working in oils on pre-stretched canvas, his main subject is still music and the experiences of the day-to-day lives of both professional and amateur musicians. His work usually tries to tell a little story, often with a touch of humor. Sometimes these are based on an actual happening or just a fantasy. He likes to paint musician friends, relatives or street musicians he has met.

Rick’s paintings are in private collections in both the United States and Europe.
